Mr. Mel White is a seasoned administrator and international affairs professional currently serving as Senior Director of Global Initiatives and Operations at Penn State Global, based at University Park, Pennsylvania, USA. In this role, he supports Penn State's international engagement through global initiatives, strategic partnerships, operations, and global learning.
Mel brings a rich and diverse academic foundation to his work. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in American Civilization from Lafayette College, a Master's Degree in International Affairs from the University of Washington, and a Master's Degree in Administrative Management from Bowie State University / University of Maryland University College.
Before joining Penn State, Mel had a substantive career in defense and national security, including positions such as Army Attaché at the U.S. Embassy, Islamabad; Pakistan Program Officer at the Defense Security Cooperation Agency; Chief of Army and Ground Programs at the Office of Defense Representative, Pakistan; South Asia Analyst at Headquarters, Department of the Army; and South Asia Country Director at Pacific Command Strategic Plans and Policy.
Through his academic background and professional experience, Mel brings to GPS Forum a valuable combination of regional expertise and international engagement experience.
