Associate Professor Dr. Muharrem Hilmi Özev is a faculty member in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Faculty of Economics, Istanbul University, Türkiye. His academic work focuses on conflict resolution, energy security, geopolitics, and the Gulf region.

Dr. Özev graduated from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Marmara University. He completed his master's degree at Yıldız Technical University, and later earned his PhD with a dissertation titled Oil Capital and International Relations: The Case of Gulf Countries Post-1971.

At Istanbul University, he teaches courses on International Relations, Energy Security, Diplomacy, and Conflict Resolution. He has authored several academic works, including the book Gulf Countries in the Triangle of Nationalism, Religion, and Oil, and co-edited The UN and Its Conflict Resolution Role with Aydın Erdoğan.

Proficient in English and Arabic, Dr. Özev has translated numerous philosophical and political works from Arabic into Turkish. Since 2007, he has also contributed as a coordinator and organiser of various congresses and events related to the Middle East and Islamic countries.
