Dr. Atia Ali Kazmi

Dr. Atia Ali Kazmi is President of the Global Peace Strategy Forum (GPSF), a policy organisation dedicated to advancing research, strategic advocacy, and advisory work, and Fellow at the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad (ISSI), the premier think tank of Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). A distinguished scholar and policy expert, Dr. Kazmi brings over two decades of experience in research, teaching, and institutional leadership.
She has previously served as Director of Global and Regional Studies at the Institute for Strategic Studies, Research and Analysis (ISSRA), National Defence University (NDU); Director of Research at the Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS), Islamabad; and as a founding member and Senior Research and Policy Analyst at the National University of Sciences and Technology's (NUST) pioneering think tank.
Dr. Kazmi's areas of expertise encompass global and regional geopolitics and development; national security (traditional and non-traditional); great power competition and its implications for South Asia and the wider region; strategic stability; and emerging and disruptive technologies.
Dr. Kazmi is the author of The Road to Balance in Asia Pacific: Geopolitics of American Rebalancing and Chinese Belt and Road Initiative, the first work of its kind by a Pakistani scholar in this domain, and has been extensively published in leading national and international platforms. She has also designed and led training, mentoring, and capacity-building programs for academics and early-career professionals.
Dr. Kazmi has taught at leading academic institutions including NUST, NDU, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), and University of Arid Agriculture (UAA). In addition, she has served on the editorial boards of strategic journals and actively contributed to national and international policy dialogues.
Recognized for her rigorous research, international engagement, and strategic communication, Dr. Kazmi brings a sustained record of scholarship and thought leadership to regional and global strategic debates.
